B. Electricity Supply
The electricity supply in Türkiye is 220 volts AC 50 cycles. Electrical appliances must have European plugs (i.e. round-tipped, two-pinned). An international adapter might be needed.
Electricity: The main voltage for electricity in Türkiye is 220V and 50Hz. Central European type wall socket (two-pin plugs) is also a standard in Türkiye.
C. Currency, Banking, Credit Cards and ATMs
The official currency in Türkiye is the Turkish Lira (TL) available in the following denominations: banknotes: 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 TL; coins: 1 and 5 TL. Cash can usually be exchanged without commission at exchange offices, banks and hotels. Exchange rates are published daily in Turkish newspapers and can also be found in the website of the Turkish Central Bank at http://www.tcmb.gov.tr.
Cash machines (ATMs) are available throughout Türkiye, accepting major credit and bank cards and instructions are often available in English.
D. International Dialing Codes
The country code for Türkiye is 90. The area code for Istanbul is 212 for the European side and 216 for the Asian side. To make an international phone call, dial 00 + country code + phone number.
E. Medical Services and Emergency
Emergency (ambulance, police and fire): Dial 112
Any major treatment will be carried out at local hospitals, where 24-hour medical and emergency service will be available and a general practitioner will be working on duty throughout the day. Delegates will be responsible for the costs incurred of any hospital treatment, and should therefore ensure that they have appropriate insurance coverage prior to travelling to Türkiye.
The hospitals stated below will be on duty 7/24 for emergency situations during the CFM.
